One day the sun will no longer rise, &
The stars will be taken down, &
The moon will turn off.
But for now, today is the present,
Wrapped in a luminous bow
My eyes open as light beams through my blinds,
A glow on my pale pink sheets
My ears perk at the patter of a thick tail waiting at the door
To reach the dew sprinkled grass to take his long morning piss.
I admire the milk in my coffee,
Topped with a dash of cinnamon.
The smell of burnt bacon lingering in the air
So crisp it crumbles at the first crunch
This is a glistening moment to begin my day
For not ending my days.
I remember:
My color is yellow, I am the sun.
